New Breathe Programme

Home-Start South Derbyshire and Erewash are delighted to announce a new 8 week programme for families experiencing poor mental health

DETAILS OF THE NEXT PROGRAMME TO BE ANNOUNCED AUGUST 2017

The programme aims to:

  • Empower parents
  • Equip parents with information, advice and techniques to manage their mental health on a daily basis
  • Allow parents experiencing poor mental health to come together in a non-judgemental, confidential and supportive environment
  • Promote personal development opportunities
  • Raise self-esteem and improve mental wellbeing, improving relationships within the home

Parents will:

  • Learn ways to manage mental health issues such as anxiety/depression/perinatal and postnatal depression
  • Try new interests and activities
  • Learn about factors affecting mental health including diet and lifestyle
  • Join an online confidential community for support
  • Receive a certificate of completion and have the opportunity to become a mental health buddy
  • Partners will have the opportunity to attend an activity and learn more about how to support a family member with low mental health as well as the impact of poor mental health on children
  • Remote support is available for parents who are unable to access the programme or need additional support

Activites on the programme may include (will vary each programme):

  • Relaxation techniques
  • Therapeutic art and crafts
  • Walks
  • Cooking
  • A family fund day will be held at the end of the programme
